Lahore, Pakistan, 15 February 2009 (The Nation) - Former [Pakistan]
Army Chief General (R) [Mirza] Aslam Beg has drawn the attention of
politicians and people towards the threats faced by the country in the
areas of national solidarity, integrity and independence.
Talking about the [U.S.] drone attacks inside Pakistan, he said it is
known to all that U.S. base near Tarbela [Pakistan] is working as
nerve center and carrying out [illegal, U.S. military] operations in
the [Pakistan] areas like Waziristan, FATA and even Afghanistan.
Beg said the [Pakistani] nation would definitely start mourning if it
came to know what Musharraf had done to it. He
gave open license to [U.S.] CIA to do whatever they wanted in NWFP and
Balochistan [Pakistan]. Americans are at large there now and the
greater wrong was done by influencing the political agency people, he
said. He also disclosed that tribals were targeted. He said that there
is not [only] one U.S. [Army] base in Pakistan, rather there
are so many [unlawful American military bases in Pakistan] and all of
them are active to kill Pakistanis on Pakistan's soil.
"All this has been done during the [mercenary] Musharraf regime and
everyone will come to know with the passage of time what a single man
[military dictator Pervez Musharraf] had been doing only to keep his
[unlawful] rule intact. We had no problems till 2004, but when
Musharraf was attacked and some Army personnel were involved in the
case, it was declared [without any prosecutable evidence or lawful
proof] that the mastermind of these attacks hailed from Waziristan and
on this ground attacks were begun. More than 7,000 innocent people
were killed and the tribals, who always guaranteed the security of our
borders, were forced to think a lot about their future."
Commenting upon Pakistan's [PPP regime] confession over Mumbai blast,
he said the [PPP] government adviser on the Interior [Rehman
Malik] announced this as if he had got a big success and big
conspiracy had been unveiled, whereas the entire world knew that this
confession was outcome of the [US-Indian] dictation. "We should not be
mum over the wrongs done by U.S. and India after [Malik]
admitted crime regarding Mumbai incident."
He called upon the [Pakistani] nation to witness that there is a CIA
[U.S. Central Intelligence Agency] network in the tribal areas of
Pakistan from where the whole of Afghanistan is being controlled.
"Our elected [PPP] leadership has surrendered to American dictation
and it is working for the accomplishment of U.S. agenda, keeping aside
its real agenda. This is the first [PPP] government, the stakeholders
of which say something else and do something else. Their existence has
become a point of anxiety for the [Pakistani] people. Therefore, the
people and the politicians should bring matters in the [corrupt,
puppet] Parliament to deliberate and should not attach hopes with the
[PPP, MQM, ANP, JUI-F] rulers," he said.
"What do the people of Swat [Pakistan] want from us? Nothing except
that they want Shariah [Islamic rule], which was enforced in those
areas. There is no justice in our [new US-British] system and justice
is available only in Shariah. Benazir Bhutto had allowed Qazi courts
there in 1994, which brought peace," he disclosed.
He disclosed that Maulvi Nek Muhammad, with whom the Government of
Pakistan had made an accord, was killed by America so that the
condition of war could continue. He also opined that the blind use of
[military] force to solve problems had affected our power and produced
anarchy in the country.
"This is the first time that I am disappointed with the [Pakistan]
Army because the Army was sent to establish the writ of the government
in certain areas, but after five minutes the writ has altogether
finished even where it was formerly established."
He said that it is now time for the [Pakistani] people to handle the
important affairs themselves and find solutions of the problems
themselves, rather than leaving things to the rulers
only, failing which the [Pakistani] nation might face internal break-up. Aslam Beg was talking to The Nation.
"Now the only way left for the [Pakistan] government and the [PPP] rulers is to revert to the [corrupt, rubber-stamp] Parliament in order to chalk out a strategy for national security, solidarity and sovereignty."
