Israel Lebanon War

' War of Extermination' by Nosheen Saeed -- Source: The News

The current events in the occupied Palestine and Lebanon once again have shown the utter moral bankruptcy of western nations and their hypocrisy. While they preach democracy, human rights, equality and liberty to the world they don’t believe in practicing what they preach. Relying on brute force, the US and its junior partner Israel have openly legitimised war as an instrument of foreign policy. The Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war has provided Israel the opportunity for practicing state-run terrorism and colonisation against Arabs; a criminal justification to commit monumental crimes against Arabs while violating scores of international laws and UN charters. In their delirious mindset they have forgotten that events like Qana give birth to new recruits for carrying out acts of terror in retaliation and revenge.

By waging what amounts to a war of extermination against the Arabs, America and Israel should be holding themselves responsible for 9/11, 7/11 and 7/7 and not the Muslim world. This is because extremism, fanaticism and terrorism are becoming the hallmark of the west. Terrorism is indiscriminate killing of civilians in pursuit of political goals and by this definition Israel and the US are actually terrorists themselves. When the sole power of the world keeps sending smoke signals, closes the doors of negotiations, refuses to attend to the core issue of conflicts, brutalises country after country, drives out inhabitants from their traditional homeland and without regard to the civilian population prepares murderous aerial bombardment, resulting in the death of innocent women and children and destruction of infrastructure, with the sole objective of turning all Arab states into Israeli and US protectorates, the radical elements prone to seek alternative ways to redress their grievances will rise from the ashes. The emergence of resistance fighters is directly linked to “Western betrayals” and atrocities committed by it. By beating the drums of war the US is not only jeopardising its own security but that of the rest of the world.

While the Israeli and Bush administration endlessly repeat propaganda claims that the attack on Lebanon is an act of self defence prompted by the seizure of two soldiers, this assertion enjoys no credibility among sagacious analysts. Israel used the event as a pretext for something that remained unfulfilled from the Zionist blueprint for six-decades of history of annexation and manipulation. The ongoing murderous campaign inside Lebanon cannot therefore be grasped without an understanding of the Zionist dream that includes annexing the southern part of Lebanon right up to the Litani river in Lebanon, Syria’s Golan Heights and the West and East banks of the Jordan River.

As the onslaught against Lebanon enters its fourth week, the far reaching aims of the war have become all too clear. The military operation is a continuation of the imperialist geo-political restructuring of the Middle East and Central Asia that began with the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s the beginning of a serious struggle for all-out control over Middle East, the Caspian Basin and Central Asian oil and gas. The brutal and destructive war is part of a carefully planned military roadmap. The extension of the war into Syria and Iran has already been contemplated by the US and Israeli military planners. This broader military agenda is intimately related to strategic oil and oil pipelines and supported by the Western oil giants, controlling the pipeline corridors.

In the context of the war on Lebanon it seeks Israeli territorial control over the East Mediterranean coastline. The five-year campaign plan includes a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan. According to General Wesley Clark, the Pentagon, by late 2001, was planning to attack Lebanon. Bush’s plan for a ‘serial war’ is fully consistent with a plan built by the neocons that are in key positions in his government. Within hours of the Israeli invasion, Tony Blair, Ehud Olmert and George W. Bush were blaming Iran and Syria for the crisis saying that their backing and arming of Hizbollah was the cause of the crisis. Middle East. Condoleezza Rice visited Lebanon nearly two weeks after the bombing providing ample time for Israel to destroy Lebanon.

The current war is not only about wiping out Hizbollah as a political and military force within Lebanon but also destroying any mass resistance to US and Israeli domination. On the agenda is the removal of the Syrian Baathist regime, launching a full-scale war against Iran, settling a score with Hizbollah which by guerrilla harassment drove it out of Lebanon in 2000 ending its 22 year occupation of the south. Hizbollah demonstrated to the entire Arab world that Israel was not invincible; it humiliated the Israeli army and dented its deterrent. Washington’s unconditional backing for Israel highlights the fact that it’s in reality seeking to bomb Lebanon into submission and Israel intends to strike a blow at the Iran-Syria and Hizbollah axis which has challenged US-Israeli dominance in the region. For the US and Israel it has become imperative to prevail, in this vital part of the world.

The US has given Israel a carte blanch because it’s confronted by a potentially nuclear-armed Iran and a humiliating defeat in Iraq. It’s desperate to regain the initiative in the wider Middle East. The pro-Israeli neocons have convinced the US that victory for Israel in Lebanon will be a victory for the US and a defeat will be a defeat for both. The desperation and frustration of the US is visible in the war on Lebanon. The sole superpower’s struggle for total global domination, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, has faced multiple setbacks. Its efforts to control oil supplies in various parts of the world has suffered serious losses with some economists concerned about the danger of a US economic crash. The Afghani and Iraqi resistance and the unpopularity at home, has hurt the US plans to such an extent that it has turned into a ferocious foe, that is ready to level to the ground anything that comes in its way.

For the sole superpower time is running out as China and Russia are successfully making gains in Central Asia, the Caspian Basin and the Middle East. The US has also lost in its attempt to dominate South America and several oil-rich African countries and to the Islamists in Somalia. Iran is standing firm against US bullying, so is India, Pakistan, Venezuela, Russia, China, Europe and Turkmenistan. They are busy making economic-energy deals and gearing up stratagems to counter the imperialistic designs of the sole superpower. In fact many analysts term the US-Israel-UK nexus as an axis of evil with the blood of millions of innocents on its stained hands.

The policy of cruelty pursued by the Nazis, after they came to power in 1933, has been long forgotten by the world compared to the brutality, savagery and cruel genocide, unleashed in the Middle East. If the Nazis were subjecting their opponents to inhumane oppression so is Israel. If the Nazi party was a ruthless murder machine that undertook the massacring of innocent people as part of an ideological mission and slaughtered innocent women and children in cold blood, so is Israel. If Hitler was invading European countries one by one so are the crusaders and the Israelis. If the Nazis showed no mercy and pity, killing innocent people like guinea pigs, the Israelis are following Nazi footsteps. If the Nazis declined to the lowest form of humanity, so has Israel. The Nazi brutality is an undeniable and explicit fact of history and every person of conscience denounced them for their cruelty. Similarly Israeli brute force and cruelty has become an irrefutable fact of history and every person of conscience will denounce it ultimately.
